Dennis M. Barrett, J.D., Ph.D. was born in 1957 in Wilson County, Tennessee. He holds two earned doctorates, with majors in law, economics, and religion. After a career as an engineering and management consultant, he retired to devote his full-time efforts to writing.
Throughout his professional life, Barrett has been involved in a variety of business and technical ventures. Together with his wife, Marilyn Mitchell Barrett, K1ECW, he was previously involved in TransWorld Antennas, LitePak Systems, and Corban Associates, a chemicals and food consulting firm.
Barrett has also maintained a longstanding involvement in amateur radio. He and his wife have sponsored DXpeditions, special event stations, local hamfests, and other amateur radio activities, and are the owners of Horizon Antennas in Fort Payne, Alabama. Barrett operates under the amateur radio call sign N4ECW and, when operating from St. Martin in the French West Indies, uses FS/N4ECW.
Now retired from consulting, Barrett devotes his time to writing while continuing his interests in amateur radio, technology, business, and community activities. His published works include Caliente, Caliente II, Raven, and Equinox, reflecting his broad range of interests and experiences.
My aim is to frame the inherent comedy of human relationships, especially when placed within the curated absurdity of a resort community. It's about finding the profound in the predictable.
